Daycamps

ONLINE BOOKING - We are currently experiencing some teething problems with our online bookings. Please print off the booking form to the right of this page and post it in to us or alternatively phone on 01489 772215 to book over the phone.  We hope to have the online bookings up and running in time for Summer and apologise for any inconvenience caused in the mean time.

HALF PRICE BUS OFFER! Our free bus offer has now come to an end. We are pleased to announce that buses will remain half price for Summer Daycamps if booked on or before 23 May 2008! That's just £7.50 for a week's travel to and from the fun! Routes and schedules are available to download on the right hand side of this page.

Action-packed and bursting with fun, Daycamps offer school holiday and half-term activities for children and young people aged 4 – 16, which really make the most of the great outdoor activities and facilities here at Fairthorne Manor.

At Fairthorne Manor’s superb 111-acre site on the upper reaches of the River Hamble there are facilities for watersports such as kayaking, sailing and raft-building as well as other outdoor pursuits including abseiling, aerial runway, pioneering and orienteering.

At Daycamps children take part in a programme of exciting outdoor activities tailored to their age group. The exact range of activities offered varies, and a choice of activities is offered when possible. Our leaders are trained to be flexible, and will adjust sessions to suit the level of the group. Activity Club, Adventure Club and Club 14 – 16 age groups have at least two teambuilding or adventure activities taking place each day, plus sports, games, arts and crafts.

Holiday Club:
For those in school years R – 2
(Children aged 4 – 6 as at 31 Aug 07 for Easter & Whitsun)

(Children aged 4 - 6 as at 31 Aug 08 for Summer, Oct & Xmas)

Activities for this age group focus on mini adventure making the most of our beautiful surroundings. Sessions are led by staff specially selected for their understanding of the needs of younger children.

Games, arts and crafts are complimented by themed activities with a focus on the natural environment.

A typical week’s programme could include:

  • minibeast hunting in the woods
  • boat trip
  • bouncy castle / bouncy pillow
  • obstacle course
  • drama
  • junior aerial runway
  • sports such as football and cricket
  • mini Olympics.

Activity Club:
For those in school years 3 – 6
(Children aged 7 - 10 as at 31 Aug 07 for Easter & Whitsun)

Activity Club, like the children in this age group, is bursting with energy and excitement.

Sports, games and workshops are offered alongside the adventure activities at Fairthorne Manor, giving something for everyone.

A typical week for Activity Club includes:

  • pioneering
  • kayaking
  • archery
  • den building
  • camp craft
  • raft challenge
  • sports and arts options.

Adventure Club:
For those in school years 7 – 9
(Children aged 11 - 13 as at 31 Aug 07)

(Children aged 11 - 13 as at 31 Aug 08 for Summer, Oct & Xmas)

Adventure Club gives plenty of scope for children and young people to pick and mix activities for themselves.

There are opportunities to attempt our most challenging activities, and to choose workshops to extend and fine-tune skills. Chill out activities are on offer between the main activity sessions too.

A week for Adventure Club could include:

  • archery
  • camp craft
  • burma bridge
  • assault course
  • initiative tests
  • chill-out
  • sports tournament
  • watersports such as canoeing, kayaking or sailing.

Club 14 – 16:
For those in school years 10 & 11
(Children aged 14 - 16 as at 31 Aug 07)

(Children aged 14 -16 as at 31 Aug 08 for Summer, Oct & Xmas)
Maximum age at time of attending is 16.

At Fairthorne Manor, Club 14 – 16 has been created to meet a need identified by young people in this age group, and has been developed around ideas put forward by young people.

In Club 14 – 16, young people will have the chance to do a range of outdoor activities (canoeing, kayaking, climbing etc.) at an advanced level. There may even be a possibility of gaining a qualification!

Participants who have demonstrated an appropriate aptitude may also opt to take part in leadership development activities, which many young people tell us can help to contribute to their future educational and career choices.
