Multi-activity Camps

Multi-activity Daycamps are our most popular choice for children of all ages!

Offered every school holiday throughout the year, Multi-activity Camp offers a variety of outdoor adventurous activities for children aged 4-16 years.

The Daycamp day

On arrival, children are split into age groups based on their school year, allowing us to offer activities most appropriate to their developmental stage.

See the “Activities” tab below for further information.

To make busy schedules easier we offer the following Multi-activity Camps extras :

Children in school years 3 and over can extend the Multi-activity Camp fun with a residential stay.  With 1 night sleepovers, to 2 night Big Weekends or 5 night Residential Camps in the summer, we have something for everyone.

Challenge by choice

Many of the children that visit us are ready for greater challenges and the programme of activities allows them to fulfil their potential. Those who are not quite so eager will be sensitively encouraged to push themselves as far as they are happy to. We exercise a ‘challenge by choice’ policy, whereby no child will be pressured to participate in an activity they are not ready for.

Children who require additional support

If your child requires additional support to access our Multi-activity Camps schemes, please visit our support page for further information, including details on potential funding for buddies.

Through membership of the YMCA Community, you will have the chance to feel a greater sense of ownership and belonging, as well as enjoying exclusive member events, discounts and early booking discounts.  For more information visit our Membership page.

Children are split into age groups according to their school year. Each age group has a different programme, so children enjoy challenging age-appropriate activities.

Our younger age groups enjoy a forest school style, exploring Fairthorne’s varied habitats through exciting 45 minute activities as well as enjoying sports, games and arts & crafts.  Children in school years 3 and over enjoy three exciting sessions each day, including water and land-based outdoor activities, sports and games.

Discover more on our sample programmes below (the programmes vary throughout the year depending on the weather):

For the main summer holiday period, your child’s school year will be based on the school year they will be starting in September. For example, if your child is finishing year 2 in July, they will be in the Activity Club (school year 3) group for the main summer holiday period. For children under 8 the ratio is 1:8; for children aged 8 or over the ratio is 1:12.

We offer a variety of ways to pay:

  • Credit/debit card
  • Cheque (in person) in advance
  • Cash (in person) in advance
  • Childcare vouchers – if booking online or by telephone, you must pay in full at the time of booking using a credit/debit card and send us the vouchers for the childcare element of the booking with a clear reference of which child the payment relates to. Once we receive the vouchers, we will refund the voucher value back to the card with which you paid. It can take between 10-14 working days to refund you once we have received the vouchers. Alternatively, if booking by telephone, we can make a provisional booking and ask you to send the vouchers to us with your child’s name listed on the payment.  Once the vouchers are received, your booking is confirmed and a confirmation sent.  Please note that bookings are only confirmed once payment has been received.  We accept vouchers from a variety of listed childcare providers.  Childcare vouchers will only be refunded for eligible services that have been delivered within 6 months of receipt of a customers voucher.

Our Daycamp Booking Conditions are available as a download; please contact us if you would prefer a hard copy.

Children are split into age groups according to their school year and upon arrival children are securely signed in at their appropriate age group area. Once all children are signed-in, they are further split into smaller activity groups. Each age group has a different Multi-activity Camp programme, meaning children experience challenging but age-appropriate activities.

To work out the age group your child will be in, please see the table below:

Unfortunately, we are unable to move children between age groups.

Children coming on our Daycamps should come prepared to be outside whatever the weather. We are an outdoor centre, so if your child is on one of our Multi-activity Camps they will get muddy and dirty!  The vast majority of the activities on our Multi-activity Camps and some activities on our Themed Camps are outside, so please ensure you send your child with clothing appropriate for all weathers.

Children attending Daycamps should bring the following:

  • Packed lunch and a drink (refillable bottle as we have plenty of water points around site) or add a packed lunch to your booking
  • Snacks for breaks in the day
  • Warm clothing (Jacket, jumpers, t-shirts)
  • Shoes that can/will get wet
  • Towel (warm showers and changing facilities are available)
  • Spare clothes (a complete set including pants!)
  • Spare shoes to travel home in
  • Plastic bag (to put wet clothes in)
  • Optional tuck money (in a labelled money bag or purse)

Please do not send your child with flip flops or crocs, mobile phones, electronic equipment or other items of value as we cannot be held responsible for them.
