Musical Theatre Camp

Musical Theatre Camp is designed especially for children with a love of all things musical and dramatic.

This summer’s theme is Shrek the Musical!  Join us for a week of performing arts where children will learn a whole range of dance moves and routines as well as basic choreography. Children will put their new moves into practice with a show-stopping performance in the end of week finale.

Musical Theatre Camp is suitable for experienced performers and those wanting to try something new.

Additional help for parents

To make busy schedules easier we offer the following Musical Theatre Camp extras:

Stay overnight or longer

Children can extend the fun of all of our camps by joining one of our residential options:

  • sleepover – children on this camp have the option of a sleepover during every Daycamp period.
  • Big Weekends – children aged 8 years and over can enjoy a 2 night stay from Friday to Sunday on selected weekends in the summer.
  • Residential Camp – children aged 8 years and over have the option of a 5 night stay at Easter or throughout the summer.

When do they run?

Musical Theatre Camp will be running the following weeks of the 2017 summer holidays:

  • Week 2: 7th-11th August
  • Week 4: 21st-25th August

Final performance for Musical theatre camp will take place on the Friday at 2pm. Performance theme this year will be Shrek.

Challenge by choice

Many of the children that visit us are ready for greater challenges and the programme of Musical Theatre Camp activities allows them to fulfil their potential. Those who are not quite so eager will be sensitively encouraged to push themselves as far as they are happy to. Fairthorne Manor exercises a ‘challenge by choice’ policy, whereby no individual will be pressured to participate in an activity they are not ready for.

Children who require additional support

If your child requires additional support to access our schemes, please visit our support page for further information, including details on potential funding for buddies.

Through membership of the YMCA Community, you will have the chance to feel a greater sense of ownership and belonging, as well as enjoying exclusive member events, discounts and early booking discounts.  For more information visit our Membership page.

The theme changes each summer (Hairspray in 2013, The Wiz in 2014, Alice in Wonderland in 2015 and Matilda in 2016), with children having the opportunity to incorporate stage makeup, costume and prop making and have some fun with wacky hairstyles. The main focus of the week is towards a short end of week performance which parents are very welcome and encouraged to attend.  There may also be the chance to learn extra skills around song writing, physical theatre, stage combat and various dance styles.
