Equestrian Camp

Equestrian Camp is perfect for children keen to learn all aspects of riding and horse care.

Run in partnership with our neighbouring BHS approved riding school at Pinkmead Equestrian Centre, Equestrian Camp introduces children to all aspects of pony care and riding. This residential only camp is suitable for both experienced riders and those looking to try something new. Children enjoy equestrian activities during the day, then join with children from other themed and multi-activity camps for an exciting evening programme .

When do they run?

Equestrian Camp will be running the following weeks in 2017:

  • Easter week 2: 17th-21st April (4 nights)
  • Summer week 1: 30th July-4st August (5 nights)
  • Summer week 2: 6th August-11th August (5 nights)
  • Summer week 3: 13th-18th August (5 nights)

For details of all camps and themes please visit our Dates & Prices page.

Challenge by choice

Many children that visit us are ready for greater challenges and the Equestrian Camp activity programme allows them to fulfil their potential. Those who are not quite so eager will be sensitively encouraged to push themselves as far as they are happy to. Fairthorne Manor exercises a ‘challenge by choice’ policy, whereby no individual will be pressured to participate in an activity they are not ready for.

Consent

A consent form must be completed and returned to us for each child booked onto Equestrian Camp.

Children who require additional support

If your child requires additional support to access our schemes, please visit our support page for further information, including details on potential funding for buddies.

Through membership of the YMCA Community, you will have the chance to feel a greater sense of ownership and belonging, as well as enjoying exclusive member events, discounts and early booking discounts.  For more information visit our Membership page.

Children will learn all aspects of pony care, including feeding, health and equipment required. Children new to riding will learn basic skills, whilst experienced riders will have the chance to practice and enhance their skills.
