YMCA Southampton Housing
YMCA Southampton Housing provides safe, secure and comfortable accommodation for 16-25 year olds across a number of settings within Southampton.
Our housing hub is centrally based at George Williams House, a large provision of housing in the centre of town on The Avenue within easy reach of agency services, colleges, recreational venues and training establishments. George Williams House is comprised of 40 self contained units, each a studio flat arrangement with an en suite shower room and kitchen.
In addition, we agency manage a further 34 units throughout the city which are either self contained or shared and form the basis of our move on strategy for the residents at George Williams House once a period of support has been completed and certain goals met.
Prospective tenants are offered a tenancy on an Assured Shorthold basis with an opportunity to stay within YMCA Housing for a period of up to two years.
At YMCA Southampton, we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to progress with lives. If you have previously had problems, we have support staff on site who are there to help and guide so that you progress towards independent living. Staff are on site to help you plan the next steps in your life and to help facilitate any skills or qualifications or funds that you may need to make this happen.
In Spring 2015, we completed the conversion of office space at George Williams House into a further 12 units of shared accommodation to offer to young people. These units are provided on an affordable rent basis and have a different referral process as the other units that we offer. It is envisaged that young people in employment will be able to secure accommodation, without a deposit and be provided with secure affordable accommodation.
