Winchester House - YMCA Isle of Wight
New improved on site activities for 2008!
Winchester House is a beautiful Victorian building set in large grounds on the cliff top overlooking Sandown Bay and immediately above the long sandy beach.
Winchester House is a popular choice for school and group holidays, and is great for community events, lunches and parties. It’s an ideal venue for training days and meetings too. Open all year.
The Main House offers holiday accommodation for groups of 20 – 124 people, plus a range of function rooms suitable for community events, meetings and training days on a residential or non-residential basis. A Bed & breakfast option is also available during some parts of the year.
For smaller groups, The Lodge accommodates groups of 10 – 24.
The sandy beach is only a couple of minutes walk from the steps outside the House, where swimming, watersports and beach games can be enjoyed.
Being centrally positioned on the Isle of Wight’s east coast, Winchester House offers a splendid base from which to explore the Island, which is steeped in natural beauty and local history. Buses to all parts to the Island stop outside, and Lake station, with regular trains to Ryde, Sandown and Shanklin, is approximately 10 minutes walk away. Both Sandown and Shanklin can be reached by a 15 - 20 minute walk along the cliff path.
