LOCAL YMCA’S TO JOIN FORCES
YMCA Fairthorne Manor and YMCA Southampton merge to ensure a brighter future for local children, young people and their families.
On Thursday 1 April 2010 YMCA Fairthorne Group and Southampton YMCA will officially merge creating a single organisation with a strong influence over opportunities and care for young people across the region. The Southampton YMCA will join YMCA Fairthorne Group and will now be known as YMCA Southampton.
YMCA Fairthorne Group has established itself as a dependable and constant service for children and young people in the South Hampshire and Isle of Wight region with 7 nurseries, 2 residential centres, school clubs and school holiday schemes creating opportunities for over 20,000 children and young people each year.
A large proportion of YMCA Southampton is focused on providing accommodation and supported housing for young adults in need of support although supporting local junior and secondary schools with after school care, various Playschemes and Junior Clubs are run for the community.
