St Marys
YMCA St Mary's Day Nursery and Preschool is located within the grounds of St Mary's Hospital in Newport, Isle of Wight. YMCA has been working in partnership with the NHS since January 2005 to provide the very best in Pre-School and Nursery facilities.
The Nursery provides a wide range of learning experiences within the nursery building, with a large outside area enabling us to promote an emphasis on outdoor learning. The outside space includes a woodland area with deciduous and coniferous trees that are homes to wildlife, provide shade in the summer and are a visual example of seasonal change.
YMCA St Mary's Day Nursery and Preschool provides opportunities for gardening with the children using wheelbarrows to move soil and other materials and forks and spades for digging and planting. There is also a safe garden for the babies to play in, including a summer house.
During every school holiday, we also offer an exciting Daycamp programme for children aged 4-8 years on a half or full day basis from 0800-1800. See our Daycamp page for further information.
Play Based Learning
A play based curriculum is enhanced by high standards of staff, equipment and resources, with daily activities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This is divided into four areas of learning;

All of our indoor and outdoor activities are aimed at developing children's self esteem, confidence and social skills through the use of the above strategies.
Outside Play at the Nursery
Children are encouraged to play and learn in the external environment to develop their independence at every opportunity. In the garden we have an activity trail to practice motor skills, a woodland garden to discover nature and wildlife and a large grassed area to run around in!
Healthy Eating at Nursery
During the nursery day we provide a hot lunch and healthy mid-morning and afternoon snacks. All meals and snack times are fun and sociable and can meet your child's individual dietary requirements.
Peace of Mind
As with all our nurseries, St Mary's Day Nursery is OFSTED registered and has a dedicated, well-trained staff team.
All staff undergo an enhanced CRB disclosure before commencing employment.
Free Pre-School Sessions
Each child in the UK is entitled to 15 hours of free pre-school sessions per week effective from the term after their 3rd birthday. Please contact us if you require further information regarding this.
Session Times & Prices
Our nursery is registered for 86 children from 6 weeks - 5 years old and offers a wide provision of care including full days, half days and hourly sessions. Prices from 1st October 2011.

Opening times are Monday – Friday from 7.30am – 6pm for 51 weeks of the year. The Nursery is closed between Christmas and New Year.
