If you hold a level 3 qualification in Childcare (or above) the minimum starting salary is £14,000 per annum for all of our childcare/early years roles.

If applying for one our Childcare Apprentice roles, please note all apprentices will be offered a permanant position at one of our settings on successful completion of their apprenticeship. This offer is dependant on good conduct, attendance and satisfactory work reviews.

Promoter (ref 702) – YMCA Fairthorne Group / up to £7.50 per hour

Do you enjoy engaging with the general public? Are you warm and welcoming? Could you promote the services we offer? If yes, then we have the role for you! We are looking to recruit a Promoter for summer events we attend across Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight (Ref 702). You will represent and promote the YMCA and the services we offer to an external customer audience at both externally (school/community fete and fairs) and by the YMCA run events. Our aim is to create a bank of people who are able to work weekends, with hours agreed in advance. Your new role can be very flexible, so you could either cover the whole area or just a small patch. Special Needs Buddies (ref 656) – YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £7.50 per hour / summer employment

If you’re a welcoming and caring person, and you want to provide an exciting experience for children and young people with additional needs this could be the job for you!

You will be joining the very successful Daycamp programme as buddy and you will need enthusiasm and imagination and be able to work with a designated child as a 1:1 carer to ensure that they are able to engage with a group of non disabled peers and participate in the activities on offer. Experience with children with additional needs is desirable and good communication skills will be required.

This is a fixed term contract for between 31st July to 1st September 2017 , we are asking that you are able to work at least 3 full weeks. Residential Camp Supervisor (ref 663) – YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £8.20 per hour / summer employment

If you’re a welcoming and caring person, and you want to provide an exciting experience for children and young people with additional needs this could be the job for you!

You will be joining the very successful Daycamp programme as a residential supervisor and you will need enthusiasm and creativity to supervise the children during meal times and plan and lead a developmental programme of evening activities such as wide games, rounder’s and arts/crafts. You will also be responsible for children’s pastoral care and welfare and dealing with any overnight issues that may arise as you will be staying in the same tent village. Other responsibilities include dealing with any behaviour and liaising with parents.

This is for 5 weeks over the school summer holidays (24th July – 4th September 2017). You must be able to attend the training week. Housing Support Worker (ref 654) – YMCA Housing Southampton / up to £19,000 per annum / 37.5 hours per week

Can you be an advocate for young people? Do you want to help young people transform their lives? Ideally you will have proven experience of working with challenging young people and knowledge of accommodation provision. Primarily based at our George Williams House site where we provide accommodation and support to 40 Young People. You will provide support and assistance to the young people as they work towards further education, training, employment and move-on into full independence. You will actively promote social interaction and community involvement as well as act in an advocacy role providing advice and support in sustaining tenancies and moving to fully independent living. Cooks x 2 (ref 671) – YMCA Isle of Wight / £8944 per annum / 20 hours per week / fixed term

Can you create and cook a range of interesting and healthy menus for both adults and children utilising fresh ingredients wherever possible? Do you have experience in running a busy commercial kitchen? If yes, we have the role for you. Based at our Winchester House Hub on the cliff top of Shanklin, you will be responsible for all aspects of catering to ensure excellent quality. Working over 5 days either morning or evening (we have 2 positions, you will develop of services and facilities to maximise its full potential. The contract between May to September 2017.
