Area Director (ref 450) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / circa £50,000 per annum / 40 hours per week 

Possibly the best job in the YMCA available today! Do you have the skills and passion to transform communities? Can you inspire a team to champion the lives of children and young people? We are looking for an experienced person to lead strategic and operational development at Fairthorne Manor. Our flagship site is set in 111 acres of countryside on the banks of the river Hamble near Botley, offering group residential visits, a large day nursery, school holiday activity programmes and a family campsite. Children’s Programme Co-ordinator (ref 447) / YMCA Portsmouth / £16,000 – £17,000 per annum / 1950 hours per year

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and inspirational person to take up the role of Children’s Programme Co-ordinator.  This full time role will both supervise our numerous local playwork services, as well as oversee its quality. You must be able to lead by example to the rest of the team within our settings, particularly our after school club for 4 to 11 year olds and our Youth Daycamps for 10 to 16 year olds.  You will also be required to work at our crèche for babies and toddlers that operates for two hours each week.  Occasional Saturday work including delivery of our birthday parties is also required. Qualified to a minimum of level 3 in play or children’s work, you will also need to be open minded to suggestions and ideas from children and young people, and by advocating for their freely chosen play, provide an environment in which these suggestions and ideas can be acted upon. Lead Playworker (ref 446) / YMCA Weston / £6,123 – £8,063 per annum / Term Time / 15 hours per week.

Do you have a passion for working with children? Do you want to help them to develop their skills in a safe and caring environment? As part of a small team, you will assist in designing and delivering high quality activities for children of all ages. We currently deliver sessions at Weston Park Infant school using a range of their facilities – as well as off-site trips within the local area. The Club runs from 3.15pm – 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, Term Time only and we care for between 8-25 children per day. Nursery Manager (Maternity Cover) (ref 394) / YMCA Nursery, Whale Island / £24,000 – £28,500 pa / 40 hrs

Could you sustain YMCA Little Whale Nursery as one of the best nurseries in Portsmouth? The nursery cares for 58 children throughout the community, but in the unusual location of the naval base of Whale Island. It was rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted in 2014 and continues to be at the forefront of nursery practice. As Manager, you will lead a large staff team and ensure that highest standards of childcare in line with the YMCA Way. YMCA Little Whale Nursery is 1 of 12 nurseries within the YMCA Fairthorne Group. As part of a team of nursery managers, you will also participate in developing our YMCA approach, sharing learning and piloting exemplar programmes for all settings. We are looking for a person who has proven leadership experience within a childcare setting and who holds a minimum level 4 childcare qualification. Evening Cleaner (ref 400) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £5,070 per annum / 15 hours per week

Daycamp Group Leader – Big Day (ref 453) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £8.20 per hour

If you are a welcoming and caring person, and want to provide exciting activities and experiences for children and young people this could be the job for you. You will be joining the very successful Daycamp programme as the Big Day leader. You will have day to day responsibility for both the children and staff within Big Day, which is an extension of our Daycamps programme both at the beginning and end of each day. Big Day provides activities and meals between 07.45am – 09.30am and  3.30pm – 6.00pm (7pm on Thursdays during summer), for children aged 4-16. Based at Oasis Academy Mayfield, Sholing you will be part of the Daycamps Team. Your main focus will be to plan, review, develop and deliver a first class, exciting and caring Daycamps programme for 4 to 16 year olds in the school holidays. Duties will also include paying particular attention to the needs and well being of our young people, recruitment/managing a small team and working closely with partner organisations. This role demands a real ability to engage with and understand the needs of young people, their families and community groups. The hours are 40 per week during school holidays, with additional days per holiday for set up/pack down, leaflet distribution and open days. We supports Children/ Young people aged between 5-17 years with severe complex needs (both physical and medical) during the Easter and Summer holidays. Offering adaptable stimulating Play sessions throughout the County of Dorset, we need you to work within a team to provide unique fun opportunities for all our young people we support in a safe and caring environment. Due to the nature of the Children/Young People you will be working with you must be at least 18, reasonably fit (as the role can be physically demanding). Would you like to provide administrative support for our new busy nursery in Woolston? You will be an experienced office administrator who can follow financial and HR processes, administrate a marketing plan, have great communication skills, and be able to demonstrate first class customer service. IT literacy is essential. The nursery is a busy environment and you will need to be flexible in your approach and willing to juggle priorities. You will ensure that best practice is adhered at all times and up date our procedures according to National Governing Body’s guidelines/advice. Volunteer Daycamp Leader (ref 376) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / 22nd June 2015 – 30th August 2015

You will be joining the very successful Daycamp programme as a group leader, and trained in a variety of activities including Obstacle Course, Aqua Slide and Den Building, as well as group games and Playwork. You will have pastoral responsibility for children aged 4-16 and will be their support and inspiration while they are here. You will need enthusiasm and imagination to welcome and provide an amazing experience for the children. You will be involved in all aspects of Daycamps including Big Day, Sleepover and Campfire. You will be sharing accommodation with other Volunteer Daycamp Leaders on the Fairthorne Manor site and all of your main meals will be catered for. Events Staff x 3 (ref 348) / YMCA Winchester / £6.50 per hour

We are looking for house Porters to help set up and take down items for events held at the house. The Porter will report to the Duty Manager who manages each event and let. Duties will include laying out a room for a function, packing a room away after a function, aiding the duty manager during a function, taking on any tasks the function may need. The ideal candidate would be flexible and able to work in the evenings when most of the events occur although there may be some during the day. Apprentice Chef (ref 415) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £5,323.50 per annum / 37.5 hours per week

Are you looking at starting your career in catering? We are able to offer 6 apprenticeship placements for keen and dedicated chefs, wanting to work towards their Professional Cookery level 2 qualification. You will get on the job training, 1 day a week at college and support from a friendly and energetic team. You will assist in the preparation, cooking and service of food on site. Night Security (ref 437) / YMCA Southampton / £8.00 per hour / bank

You will be based at our George Williams House site where we provide accommodation and support to 40 Young People. You will be responsible for providing night time security cover and at times a low level of housing related support. You will monitor and respond to any incidents that compromise the safety, security and well-being of our tenants, visitors or staff. At times it may be necessary to provide telephone guidance and support to young people accommodated in our satellite properties. You will have experience of working this challenging behaviour and individuals, understanding of risk assessments and issues facing young people.
