Our Childcare Apprentices will be offered a permanant position at one of our settings on successful completion of their apprenticeship. This offer is dependant on good conduct, attendance and satisfactory work reviews.

Special Needs Buddy (ref 557) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / 35 – 50 hours per week / £6.70 – £7.50 per hour

Looking for summer employment between 21st July to 2nd September 2016? If you’re a welcoming and caring person, and you want to provide an exciting experience for children and young people with additional needs this could be the job for you.

You will be joining the very successful Daycamp programme as buddy and you will need enthusiasm and imagination and be able to work with a designated child as a 1:1 carer to ensure that they are able to engage with a group of non disabled peers and participate in the activities on offer. Experience with children with additional needs is desirable and good communication skills will be required.

Buddy shifts are

  • 07:30 to 16:00 less ½ lunch break. Note between 07:30 – 09:00 on Big Day non 1:1 support @ £6.70 ph (40 hours per week)
  • 08:45 to 16:15 less ½ lunch break (35 hours per week)
  • 09:30 to 18:00 less ½ lunch break. Note between 16:00 – 18.00 on Big Day non 1:1 support @ £6.70 ph (40 hours per week)

Daycamp & Residentials Camp Leaders (ref 554) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / 35 – 50 hours per week / £6.70 per hour

If you are a welcoming and caring person, and want to provide exciting activities and experiences for children and young people this could be the job for you.

You will be joining the very successful Daycamp programme as a group leader. You will need enthusiasm and imagination to welcome and provide an amazing experience for the children and to follow the programme and know what activities you are doing for the whole day. You will also be trained in a variety of activities including Obstacle Course, Aqua Slide and Den Building, as well as group games. Take children to the toilet, supervise lunch, help children make friends, support children on activities, have your face painted, wear silly outfits, sing lots of songs, help sort out arguments, generally welcome, care for and inspire the children. AND HAVE FUN

Daycamp leader shifts are

  • 07:30 to 16:00 less ½ lunch break (40 hours per week)
  • 08:45 to 16:15 less ½ lunch break (35 hours per week)
  • 09:30 to 18:00 less ½ lunch break (40 hours per week)

Residential Camp Leaders

Weekend Host x 8 (ref 488) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £6.70 per hour

Do you have energy and enthusiasm to ensure customers have a great time while they are visiting YMCA Fairthorne Manor? You will run and assist on a variety of our weekend programmes, including Birthday Parties, Woodland Parties, Community Activities, Family Daycamps, Family Events and Special Events. Training in Outdoor activities (fire lighting, aqua slide, team challenge, raft building etc) will be given, but experience and passion for great customer service and working with children and families is essential. High Ropes & Climbing Instructors (ref 484) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor £8.50 – 12.00 per hour

Do you have a head for heights? Can you encourage others to scamper up our climbing wall? If you have ERCA and/or SPA/CWA+A then we would like to hear from you. We offer a range of high ropes experiences to a variety of clients, which includes a 36 foot/11 meters abseiling/climbing wall, Jacob’s ladder, crate challenge and zip wires. You will assist in delivering safe sessions, working alongside our existing team members. Water Sports Instructor/Senior Instructor (ref 483) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £8.50 – £17.50 per hour

You will take a lead role in the delivery and safe management of the Water Sport programmes we deliver here at Fairthorne Manor (near Botley). The centre is open 7 days a week and we are looking for people to join our team on a casual/supply basis. Working along side the existing team, you will assist in the delivery of water based sessions (kayaking, canoeing, sailing, powerboat) to the variety of clients that use the centre.  If hold RYA Senior Instructor qualification, you will also provide cover for the Senior Sailing Instructor (when needed) – ensuring the safe running of sailing sessions and management of DI’s and AI’s. Bookings and Office Administrator (ref 555) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / c.£15,000 per annum

Do your friends often comment on how organised you are? Well why not come and help organise us. We have a position available in our friendly and busy Sales team here at the YMCA Fairthorne Group. Your role is to be that first point of contact that our customers get when they ring into the sales team, so a good telephone manner is a core requirement. You will be taking bookings for any of our services, and using our CRM system to process information and payments. Carrying out admin and reporting tasks and supporting the marketing team when needed. Experience in a office environment is an advantage, but IT skills, good communication and organisation skills, as well as an outgoing and friendly personality are our key attribute.

Marketing and Events Co-ordinator (ref 556) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / c.£18,000 per annum

Marketing is all about the product or services you are promoting/selling and you wont find a better one than the offerings of the YMCA Fairthorne Group. The role is to help market through both traditional and digital channels, the services we offer which can range from Daycamps to childcare, family camping to venue hire, counselling to outdoor activities, plus the important element of promoting the charity itself and all the good work that we do. In this role you will be based at Fairthorne Manor but travel to other sites will be required. You will assist the Marketing & Sales team in all their activity, as well as taking a special interest in supporting all the events that we run as an organisation. We are ideally looking for someone with either a degree in a relevant subject and a minimum of 1 years experience or a minimum of 3 years experience. A passion for a role in marketing and events and not forgetting a lot of enthusiasm. We have recently expanded our team and are now looking to grow again.

Events Assistant (ref 528) / YMCA Winchester / £5.30 – £6.70 per hour

Are you looking for a flexible role, where you can be active? Can you follow instructions given to you? Due to our growing programmes of events, we are looking to expand our hospitality team at St John House in the heart of Winchester city and are looking for people who can work front (and/or) back of house. Tasks include:
• Serving refreshments and bar work (only over 18’s are able to serve alcohol)
• Clearing glasses and crockery
• Washing up and light cleaning
• Portering and room set-ups
• Meeting & greeting clients and customers

Do you have a passion for cleaning? Based at a busy outdoor centre near Botley, our small team of hardworking housekeepers require an additional team member to join our organisation. You will be part of the team responsible for maintaining the highest possible standard of cleanliness in all of our accommodation, Family Park & Campsite and other facilities on our busy site. This role is physically demanding due to the nature of our business and moving between different buildings in our 111 acre grounds. You must be able to work within a team environment as well as by yourself. Having your own transport is essential due to remote location of the Fairthorne Manor site. Night Security (Bank) ref 515 / YMCA Southampton / circa £8.00 per hour

Looking for Night Security on an adhoc basic? We are looking to build our on current bank of staff, who are available to undertake night security work at out supported housing for young people in Southampton city center. You will have experience of working with challenging individuals and behaviour. Understanding of the principals of Risk Assessment, issues facing young people and you will have a basic level of computer literacy. Chef (ref 553) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £16,575 – £18,525 per annum / 37.5 hours per week / fixed term

Spend your season having fun with our catering team! Use your passion for cooking to create child-friendly meals. This fixed term position (from 3rd April to 29th September 2016) provides straight shifts (usually Sunday 0700-1500, Monday to Thursday 1200-2000) with routine days off, in a very supportive team environment. In addition, the catering team at Fairthorne Manor (near Botley SO30 2GH) are very friendly and energetic and this creates a fun atmosphere to work in. Ideally you will have

•           7061/2 or NVQ equivalent, or proven experience (specific training is available)

•           Ability to meet deadlines

•           Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent

•           Own transport

Kitchen Porters (ref 551) / YMCA Fairthorne Manor / £7.20 per hour

Based at our flagship centre near Botley. You will play a key role making sure that our customers enjoy their meals by preparing the dining environment, keeping it clean and tidy. You will assist the duty chef in preparing and serving meals and maintain the kitchen’s cleanliness environment by washing-up. Shifts can fall between 6.00am and 9.00pm and due to limited public transport in the area you must have your own transport.
