Sleep rough so others don’t have to.

We are once again holding our annual Sleep Easy fundraising event and for the first time it will be taking place over 2 locations. Volunteers in Southampton and Basingstoke will brave the cold and spend the night sleeping rough to raise money for young homeless people around the Hampshire area. The event will be fully staffed in the car parks of our supported housing units, and you will be supplied with just a cardboard box and warm fire to see you through the night.

Sleep Easy has been a staple part of YMCA fundraising since 2010 and has seen more than 6000 people sleep rough to raise more than £1m for local YMCA services that help young people rebuild their lives. The money raised will be used for basic supplies such as shoes, bedding and clothes.

Our Southampton branch currently supports over 100 young people aged 16-21 around the city, with over 40 people being housed at George Williams House in Cranbury Place. YMCA Basingstoke offers 83 units of accommodation and both provide vital advice, support and life skills.

Sleep Easy is being held on Saturday 17th March at both YMCA George Williams House, Southampton and YMCA Basingstoke. To take part in the event, please email [email protected] to register.
